LUXEMBOURG-BASED COMPANY IS FIRST COMMERCIAL CUSTOMER FOR SPACEX "STARFALL" PROJECT
Space Cargo intends to employ its "BentoBox" system to dispatch and return heavy payloads to and from Earth's orbit
A Luxembourg-based company has already secured a place in a new space project by SpaceX, one of the companies led by Elon Musk. Space Cargo is the first customer for Starfall. This service aims to bring goods and other cargo back to Earth from Earth’s orbit, as confirmed by Space Cargo’s managing director, Nicolas Gaume, to the Reuters news agency.
The first commercial mission is scheduled for 2028 and is expected to be carried out using SpaceX’s Starship spacecraft. Space Cargo plans to integrate its “BentoBox” system into the Starfall capsule at that time. The Luxembourg-based company, based in Foetz, will be responsible for integrating customers’ cargo and is already planning further missions as part of the SpaceX programme.
"With our current systems, we transport 20kg of cargo. But with Starship and Starfall, we will be transporting loads weighing several tonnes, and that is precisely our aim," Nicolas Gaume told Reuters. However, the Starship programme has been running behind schedule for years and a precise timetable has not yet been confirmed.
